Learning Support at Morley House

At Morley House, teachers operate a differentiated and supportive curriculum that encompasses the needs of all children from the earliest stage of their education.

Where children need additional support, they are withdrawn from the class to work in small, supported groups, working with highly experienced learning support staff.

We aim for all children to have a rich and broad curriculum and this means that children are not withdrawn during art, music or PE lessons.

Support staff work closely with the Special Educational Needs Coordinator to ensure that the work children do is appropriate and focussed solely on helping children make progress.

We believe that self esteem and confidence are tied directly with academic achievement, so we strive to ensure children feel nurtured and positive about their success.

Our aim is to help all children reach their full potential. Our measure of success is that they catch up with their peers and begin to work at an age appropriate level in as short a time as possible.

We regularly assess children’s progress using standardised assessments for reading, spelling and mathematics. Children with identified special educational needs all make greater than month-on-month progress in each of these areas.
