1. Admissions to Morley House (Junior School)

Pupils are encouraged to spend at least one taster day in the school - so that we can all be certain that it is the right school for them. Pupils that enter LOGS from Years 3 onwards are assessed informally during their taster days at the school.

From Year 5 onwards prospective pupils sit formal tests during their taster days which enables us to ascertain reading and spelling ages and mathematical standardised scoring.

2. Senior School

The entry tests consist of a paper in Maths and English - based upon both National Curriculum work and Verbal Reasoning Skills.

The Headmaster or another Senior Member of staff interviews each prospective pupil. This enables us to get to “know” the pupils more than just by looking at a set of raw marks and inserting arbitrary cut off points.

3. Entry at 11 plus

The main point of entry to the Senior School is at Year 7. Registered pupils are invited to attend the entry tests on the morning of the last Saturday in January.

The pupils are encouraged to bring in samples of work that they are proud of - in subjects that they are particularly interested in. They sit the tests, are interviewed and are ready to be collected by lunchtime.

Tests can be arranged outside this time, places permitting. Occasionally pupils can join the school in Year 8 where similar tests are set.

4. Entry at 13 plus

Pupils entering at this stage are in the main candidates from Prep Schools and are therefore offering Common Entrance (CE) and Common Academic Scholarship (CAS).

As the number of places offered is limited, those intending to apply should ideally register two years in advance so that we can advise on likely availability.

Those sitting CE and CAS for LOGS will sit the school’s Year 9 entry tests, alongside other prospective pupils wishing to join Year 9, in the January of their final year at Prep School.

5 Sixth Form Entry

Those students wishing to join the Sixth Form should have a creditable set of GCSE results with a minimum of 12 points (based on 3 points for an A grade, 2 points for a B grade and 1 point for a C grade) with ideally an A or A* grade in the subjects they wish to study at A Level.

All prospective pupils will be interviewed by the Headmaster and references from previous schools will be required to show evidence of good character and conduct
