At 9:15am a group of lively Year 6's left Morley House - all very excited about being on the trip to the Isle of Wight at last.
We drove straight to Southwick House where Lieutenant Colonel Doyle met us at the gate and took us through security.
It was an extravagantly beautiful house. We saw a giant map of the South of England and the North of France.
This was in fact the actual map used to plan the D-day landings !
Mr Doyle told us the story of the D-day landings and used the map to show us what happened.
Then we went to the military police museum, where we tried on lots of military uniforms.
The curator, Richard, gave us lots of interesting information about life as a military policeman over the last 200 years.
We left Southwick House to go to the ferry terminal. On the ferry we had our lunch and found out what rooms and activity groups we were in.
Once off the ferry, we made our way to Little Canada.
We walked down with our new groupee Olly ( who turned out to be a former LOGS student !) and had a glimpse of our chalets, in an area called Alberta.
We then had a tour of the centre and after making our beds with some help from the bed making fairies (Mrs Jago and Miss Shelbourn) we got settled into our chalets.
We were woken up by an alarming shout from Olly who took us off to play Splat ! in the Activity Centre.
We are now back in the teachers’ chalet waiting for dinner.
We are absolutely starving because we’ve done so much today.
We love you Mummies and Daddies ! !

Last night we ate from a wide variety of food in the canteen.
After dinner we headed off to the basketball court where we had Wacky Races for our evening event.
We did a lot of random races like a chicken impression race, slow arms fast legs and then slow legs and fast arms and another one where we grew downwards.
As we all got ready for bed we were all wide awake when we got into bed we kept giggling and we could hear everyone stomping around in their cabins.
In our cabin we were all hyperactive and then we finally got to sleep at about 12:45.
Today we did Matrix, Cat Walk and fencing.
The Matrix is where everything is unexpected and nothing is as it seems.
We had to go through lots of little tunnels and solve riddles to get through to the next room.
In the Cat Walk there are lots of ropes high up in the air and you have to walk across them.
We were attached to a harness and really high up.
Now it’s off to lunch and then on to more fun activities in the afternoon.

Yesterday afternoon we went down to the creek and did Dragon boat racing.
We won three out of four races, and we were very pleased. We all got a bit splashed.
We were undefeated until our final race but came second.
Overall we remained undefeated for a fourteenth year ! ! We really enjoyed the racing.
After dinner, we went on a night hike round the outskirts of Little Canada and we were told scary stories about the history of the Island.
We got some lovely views of the island and annoyed our instructor who was called 'Fudge' ?
This morning we had breakfast and set off to our activities - Aeroball and Dragon’s Quest.
In Aeroball we jumped on trampolines and tried to score points by trying to throw a ball into holes on the side of the net.
In Dragons Quest we had to work as a team to collect all ten dragon eggs but not step on the dragon 'blood'.
We all enjoyed the games and had lots of fun.
We are really enjoying ourselves but are looking forward to seeing our families on Friday !
Room 5:

Yesterday afternoon, we went Kayaking and Canoeing, where it got all a bit splashy - most of us capsized and got (very) wet !
We played games like, Ugly, and follow the leader! We all had a go at canoeing and tried our best !
We had dinner, and went to play the generation game, We played lots of weird games like giant Jenga.
Later that night, our shoes got soaked and it took forever to dry, it also rained that night.
The next day, we had breakfast and then got straight to Archery in Group 1 and Jacob’s ladder in Group 2.
Both were very fun activities and we tried our best in both of them.
This afternoon we are abseiling. Wish you were here !
See you all tomorrow.

Yesterday afternoon we went to the abseiling area and had a great time
Af first of it was a bit scary but then - it got really fun and exciting.
Yesterday evening we went to the disco and had lots of fun.
Ollie our groupie took us to the disco and did some dancing on stage - we all went a bit crazy ! !
On Friday morning we woke up and we had to finish packing our bags and we had to strip our beds.
It was very sad knowing that we were going to leave PGL but we have lots of great and fun memories to tell our family and friends.
We have had a lovely trip to the Isle of Wight and we will definitely miss Ollie !

| And finally a quick word from the teachers |
|
From canoes to cat walks, aeroballs to abseiling, what a brilliant week.
We’ve seen great teamwork, true friendship and, above all, a lot of laughs.
All the children have been excellent representatives for the school, receiving compliments for their great problem solving skills, outstanding dragon boat racing and their creative moves on the dance floor.
I couldn’t have enjoyed sharing this experience with them more and I am certain that these will remain happy memories for years to come.
Finally, a big thank you to the whole team at PGL for making this such an enjoyable stay for everyone.
