The Morley House theme for RNLI SOS Fund Raising Day was 'Stripes or Spots'
The children came to school in a variety of appropriately stripy and/or spotted outfits - some were more contrived than others !
Each class tailored their lessons throughout the day to the theme and the 2 visiting lifeboat crewmen Mike & Phil from The Brighton RNLI Lifeboat Station were impressed with the enthusiasm they met everywhere in the school
The Crewmen were particularly taken with the pupils' imaginative designs for new lifeboats which included a Wii room and a casino as well as, perhaps more sensibly, extra towels and a 2nd small spare boat on the upper desk
In Science lessons the best materials were tested for life jackets, boat hulls and the best footwear for a slippery deck
Cakes were brought into school with stripes and spots and the RNLI logo
ICT lessons produced beach safety posters and advertisements for the RNLI
Morley House was ‘buzzing’ all day and both pupils and staff learned a great deal about this important voluntary service.
A total of £130 was raised to support the RNLI and to this will be added the surplus from this term’s tuck shop sales
A big 'Thank You' to everyone who contributed to this event, and especially to those who generously supported Mrs Jago who spent a somewhat uncomfortable afternoon wearing a full Lifeboat crew outfit !
