At the rear of Morley House is an unused area of land - The DT Department came up with the idea of turning this unused resource into an environmental and teaching garden

Year 10 DT Students were set the task and their brief in this Design Competition was to measure the area available and design an Environmental Garden to be used by all the children at Morley House

A Dragons Den was convened to judge the presentations and model gardens. Two members of Year 6 LOGS joined the panel to ensure that Morley House students were fully represented in the design process

The Dragons were much impressed by the level of research and the high quality of the presentations produced by all the design groups.

Each group was asked a number of questions by the members of the panel - some of the Year 6 questions were particularly thoughtful !

In the end, two designs found particular favour with the panel - firstly the GMPS Design Group with their detailed high quality research and all round excellence of presentation and secondly Radley Designs with a more straight forward set of proposals which were though closely focused on the existing terrain and emphasized visual interest and clear movement zones

Both the winning designs showed a sound understanding of permaculture and how employ the space in an innovative and wide-ranging approach

GMPS Group
