News Report - Ski Trip to Tignes, France

Tignes, France - December 2008

The ski trip was great fun for all participants despite three days of blizzards on arrival. The heavy snow ensured fantastic light-powder skiing conditions. Ttowards the end of the week the sun came out, revealing a quite magical landscape.

There were 18 beginners - many of whom had made valuable progress before the trip at the Knockhatch Dry Ski Slope to ensure that they could already snow-plough and effect a stop before taking to the mountains.

Quality tuition for six hours daily ensured that all of these students made excellent progress - even though many found that acquisition of a new skill takes considerable effort and time.

As Staff we were impressed by the perseverance shown by the students and by their ability to self-motivate and get out into the snow even when tired !

Activities at the end of the day included a new sport – snow swimming. There was so much snow in resort - more than a 1m depth - which meant that we were able to enjoy playing in it in a way that is never possible in the UK.

We also made good use of the Tignes swimming pool and Sports Centre with five a side footie and table-tennis together with Mr. Twilley’s special Quiz Night.

As always LOGS students were great fun to be with and we were well looked after by the Skibound Staff in the Tignes Club Hotel.
