On Wednesday 22nd April four students competed for the title of LOGS Master Chef 2009.
The occasion produced a very high standard of work - with a selection of well presented and appetizing dishes.
Jonathan West from the Big Apple Restaurant in Eastbourne had the difficult task of judging the various culinary delights and he stated that the standard was as high as that of college students that he had trained !
Tim Hulsmann-Diamond from De Montfort House was awarded 1st prize for a Camembert and Bacon salad followed by delicious Morrocan Chicken and an unbelievably mouth-watering fresh Raspberry Pavlova.
In second place - also from De Montfort was Jamie Murray who cooked a Japanese Chicken recipe which not only tasted truly authentic but was also beautifully presented.
Philippa Joseph from Barbican House was complimented on the lovely flavour of her Chicken in Tarragon sauce and on the skill she showed in producing a completely smooth roux sauce.
Oliver Hayden also from Barbican House was praised for a perfectly cooked risotto which Jonathan said he would have no hesitation in serving in his restaurant.
Regional Schools' Finals which take place on 26th June.
