Visiting Author - Chris Bradford - took up Judo at the age of  7 yrs and has since trained in karate, kickboxing, samurai swordsmanship and earned his black belt in Kyo Shin Tai-jutsu, the secret fighting art of the ninja

His books about a young Samurai - Jack Fletcher - are based on fact and have earned him many awards and award nominations

His series of books are scheduled to be made into a film which is very exciting development and the latest book will be coming out this August

Chris is a great ambassador for the promotion of reading for pleasure for children. In between his writing and research, he visits up to 6 schools per week while promoting his books and the Honour Code of the Ninja Warrier

Before becoming an author he was a professional musician and songwriter

During his visit we were treated to a talk about martial arts and how to wield a Samurai sword, using a few fearless students to hold paper sheets for him to slice through

He then read part of his book to us which was about Jack learning to handle a Bokken (a solid wooden practise sword) and his fight with his adopted brother Yamato. The story was brought to life in an dynamic & exciting way.

After his talk and book signing, Chris then came over to the senior school Library and officially opened it following the recent refurbishment and additional building works

Although he took aim to slice the ribbon with his sword, in the event he actually used school scissors – saying with typical oriental mysticism that ' it is always better to use the correct weapon ! '
