Ben Griggs from Year 11 has been selected as part of the squad to take part in the England Futures Hockey Cup representing the Saxon Tigers - a team made up of
young men from 15 counties in the South Eastern region of England
The Futures Cup is the final stage towards England U16 Hockey selection when the 3 other Regional Teams of England come together in tournement
Ben took up hockey only 5 years ago and is the only competitor from Sussex left in this selection process which followed some 4 months of training and matches building on earlier work
What is the England Hockey Board Futures Cup?
The England Hockey Board Futures Cup (EHFC) is a competition which forms part of Junior Regional Performance Centre (JRPC) Tier 2 activities.
EHFC is for players in the U16 and U18 age groups who are selected from squads from JRPC Tier 1 activities
These four squads are the Saxon Tigers, the Pennine Pumas, the Wessex Leopards and the Mercia Lynx
The EHFC aims to give players in the U16 and U18 age groups first-hand experience of an International Hockey Tournament environment - in preparation for potential future involvement in a hockey National Age Group Squad (NAGS)
