PE and Games - GCSE & 6th Form

GCSE & 6th Form PE & Games

As students move into their GCSE years and on to the 6th Form , the emphasis of the programme moves to developing healthy lifestyle choices to aid lifelong participation in physical recreation or sport.

Students choose a particular activity and move onto a new activity after 8+ weeks.

The current programme includes :

Aerobics
Hockey
Rounders
Netball
Rugby
Squash
Swimming
Tennis
Athletics
Badminton
Basketball
Cricket
Fitness
Football

Students are encouraged to take on a variety of roles including player, official and coach. This enables them to develop life skills in addition to remaining physically active

In the Sixth Form - students may join Year 11 on their games afternoon or they may use free lessons to work out at the Southdown Gym or play Tennis or Squash on the courts

Many of our Sixth Formers assist the Department in coaching and umpiring teams and supporting students in their P.E. lessons

This mentoring role helps develop the leadership skills so valuable in life
