New Classrooms

Liam Russell Architects were commissioned last year to design an exciting new scheme to build a block of four classrooms in the grounds of the YMCA.  Planning Permission was granted earlier this year and construction is due to start in early 2018 with completion for the new academic year in September.  It is planned that these four classrooms will be assigned to the Mathematics Department with a new work area for staff.

New Catering Facility

Liam Russell Architects have completed initial designs for a new catering facility in one of the buildings purchased from the YMCA last year.  This development is the next phase in the School’s Strategic Plan.  The current facilities in Mead House will be relocated to a new building adjacent to Westgate Street. The kitchens will be located on the ground floor, together with all the required cold food storage and staff welfare facilities.  On the first floor there will be a servery together with toilets and a Pavilion extension to include tables to seat over 100 students in one sitting.  The planned completion of this next phase will be September 2019.  It is planned that the existing kitchen and dining space will be converted to additional Home Economics and Science and Drama facilities.

STEM Room

The new STEM room at Morley House provides us with purpose-built facilities to teach Home Economics, Art and Design, Science and Technology. The Science area has enabled us to extend the curriculum to include experiments that require a specialist laboratory, whilst the open plan space will allow ambitious art and design projects to be undertaken. The adjoining environmental garden is being planned by the pupils themselves and will reflect their understanding of the natural world and the environment.
