At Lewes Old Grammar School we all feel that academic success is inextricably linked with good pastoral care.

Our pastoral care ensures that all children and young people feel emotionally and socially secure. We encourage pupils to accept responsibility for their learning and their behaviour. We enable our pupils to gain the skills necessary to deal successfully with relationships, manage powerful emotions, recover from setbacks and recognise and accept other people’s feelings.

Using these skills our pupils are able to reach their academic potential and thrive in a working environment whilst enjoying life to the full.

Parents and visitors to the school regularly comment on the “family feel” of the school. This friendly atmosphere, although not unique to us, is something that we pride ourselves on and consider to be a real strength of the school.
